Will Sunlight Damage My Hair Piece or Wig?

One of the most common reasons for a hair piece to become damaged or faded is due to over exposure to sunlight. So, yes, sunlight could potentially damage your wig, but there are ways to prevent this.

The way in which the wig is affected by sunlight is found in the colour, which either fades or shows a more orange tinge. However, aside from avoiding direct sunlight, there are some precautions that you can take to avoid such damage.

Over-exposure to the sun can be prevented by staying out of the sun at peak times, however, if this can not be done, the easiest way to prevent your hair piece from altering due to sunlight would be by covering the head. Head scarves, caps and hats are not only comfortable but extremely fashionable now, so keep safe and stylish!

Another way to avoid direct sunlight and the resultant damage on your wig is by ensuring that you are using the correct products to care for your wig. Upon your fittings you will be informed of how to care for your wigs and we will recommend specific hair piece friendly products for you to care for your hair system – so as long as these are used, you don't have to worry.

If it's too late, and you have noticed that your hair piece has faded, don't worry – the system can be re-coloured, just contact us on 020 7404 6040, tell us your problem and we will schedule a meeting to fix the problem.
