How Do You Take Measurements for a Wig?
The only way to ensure that your wig has the perfect fit is by making sure that your measurements are taken in the correct way. This is done by following a precise method, which any skilled hair piece technicians and stylists will know like the back of their hand.
The first step is to take the measurement of the circumference of the head around the hairline, by positioning the tape measure with its edge following the hair line precisely around the head and nape of the neck – you want to take the measurement in inches, and an average results at this point is roughly 22 inches. This is to make sure the base of the wig follows the hair line exactly.
The next measurement to take is from the forehead to the nape of the neck. By going from the centre of the forehead to the centre of the hairline at the nape of the neck, you will probably see a result in or around 13.5 inches. The next step to measure for a wig is to go from ear to ear across the hairline – by going from the front of the ear, across the forehead to the same point at the other ear. The average result for this is roughly 11.5 inches.
The next measurement to take is from ear to ear over the top of the head to make sure that the wig is of the right width – this is pretty straightforward, and should produce a result of approximately 11 inches. Another similar method is measuring from temple to temple (side to side) across the back of the head; the average measurement is 14 inches. Finally, the wig should be a precise fit along the hairline at the nape of the neck – so one would have this measured – this is the simplest step of all, and a rough length of the hairline at this point is 5.5 inches. For any more help or information on wigs, contact us today on 020 7404 6040.
